My name is Dr. Emily Brownlee, PT, DPT and I started Mama Bear Fitness and Physical Therapy to change how mamas receive guidance and support during their health and fitness journey.

I was born and raised in Lubbock, TX and graduated from Lubbock High School. I received my Associate's degree in Biology from South Plains College, my Bachelor's degree from Texas Tech University in Cell and Molecular Biology, and My Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.

I married my amazing husband, Mason, in October of 2021 and we are expecting our first son in August 2022. We also have a German Shepherd, a Belgian Malinois, and a Border Collie. We love the outdoors and staying active.

As a new-grad, I worked in an outpatient orthopedic clinic and quickly saw a big gap between the care that I was born to give patients, and the care that I was able to give them in that environment. Fighting with insurance companies, seeing multiple patients at a time, and a hectic clinic didn't allow for the private one-on-one attention that my patients deserved.

I also realized, as several of our best friends started their families, that my DPT education was not adequate to fully rehabilitate mamas whose bodies are affected in unique ways during pregnancy, labor, and delivery. I realized how much better I could be as a clinician if I learned how to evaluate and treat the pelvic floor.

I began my pelvic health specialization and became a pre- and postnatal coach to give women like my friends specific, evidence-based advice to support their recovery and fitness journey during and after pregnancy. This turned into a real passion for supporting mama bears out there who, unfortunately, don't always have access to specific and evidence-based support for their unique needs.

My goal is to give patients and clients the personalized care that they truly deserve: one-on-one specialized care with a person-first perspective. I look forward to hearing from you and being apart of your health and fitness journey.
